Service Description
Peggy Waterhouse, M ED has been working with the young child since 1984. At that time, she specialized in infant and new parent skills, eventually working for UNICEF and the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative in Europe. Returning to the US in 1997 brought her to the Pine Hill Waldorf School in New Hampshire and the Kindergarten. There she was an assistant and after-school EC teacher, lead teacher, early childhood department chairperson, and chairperson of the faculty. She received her Waldorf Certification in 2000 and her Master of Education degree at Antioch New England in 2001. Ms. Waterhouse taught in the Antioch NE Waldorf Teacher training as well as the local college in infant and child development and curriculum. She continues to support those interested in furthering their knowledge of Waldorf Education at the Waldorf Institute of Southern California as an instructor and practicum supervisor. Participating in the conception of The Pine Hill Child Care Center at ConVal Public High School in 2005, she served as its director for the Pine Hill Waldorf School until its closing in 2013. Out of this closing, A Child’s Nature-Care and Education was conceived and founded by parents, staff, and community members with Ms. Waterhouse as executive director. Ms. Waterhouse came to the East Bay Waldorf School in 2015 to join the Early Childhood Department as Acorn Kindergarten Lead Teacher. In 2016 she was hired as the Preschool Director to complete the EBWS Community Care License for Preschool and to found and Lead the Apple Blossom and Apple Bud programs. It is with great enthusiasm that Ms. Waterhouse continues to work closely with colleagues and families on behalf of the very young child. Ms. Waterhouse came to the Sanderling Waldorf School in 2018 where she leads the Marigold mixed-age Nursery/Kindergarten. In 2020, Ms. Waterhouse became the EC Director to develop a new site for the program. Born and raised in California, Ms. Waterhouse is happy to have returned to the beautiful climate and outdoor possibilities of Southern California. She holds an MA in Music specializing in Vocal Performance from CSU Chico. Ms. Waterhouse has two grown children, both graduates of Waldorf education and two grandsons. She lives in Encinitas and enjoys big band singing, partner dancing, and taking walks on the beach.
